The German Institute for Standardization is the worlds largest standards developing organization facilitating international trade through harmonized processes and products. In the Department of Innovation and Digital Technology I supported customers to define their visions from an innovative solution to the market.As senior innovation manager I am leading a project to identify, evaluate, test and implement new business areas in the service sector. This also included communicating these topics internally and externally and presenting them to the Executive Board. Convincing companies and organizations of the strategic benefits of standardization and showing the public that standardization can also be used as a tool to accelerate innovation (and is more than DIN A4) was a lot of fun.In this function I am also responsible for the development of the standardization roadmap “The future of work” as well as for accompanying standardization projects in the field of “new work”.The purpose of my work is to find out which topics of the future of work can be supported, accelerated and promoted through standardization. For example, transfer points will be identified to facilitate market access for innovative ideas, products, processes and concepts through standardization. Vice versa, however, it is also important to identify topics that need to be driven by other factors, such as political, social or entrepreneurial decisions, rather than by standardization.

• Acquisition of and strategic consulting for European and national research projects to support and accelerate innovation by standardization / One example of such a European research project, which I accompanied, is AquaVir. As a result of the AquaVir project, a new, cost-efficient and portable system for the detection of health-endangering viruses (rota, hepatits A and noro) in various types of water was developed.• Conceptual design and realization of interdisciplinary research projects (incl. resource planning, progress and budget monitoring, public relation)• Organization and moderation of multidisciplinary workshops
