As country director, I am responsible for the supervision and development of the investment portfolios in Lesotho, Namibia and Botswana. I am leading project design and supervisory aspects, engage in the technical and strategical discussions with the respective Governments around rural development and sustainable/commercial agriculture. In line with IFAD strategic objectives, I am focusing on poverty reduction, social inclusion, youth employment, climate resilience, while having an economist lense and focusing on viable projects/programmes that link to markets and "make business sense". During COVID, we supported countries in their fight against the pandemic, including running innovative remote support missions and programming emergency response projects.

As a Programme Officer, I am mapped to the country portfolios of China, Bangladesh and Mongolia. Tasked by the respective country directors, I am tasked to lead supervision and design missions, and act as country manager for Mongolia. Work includes the development of a new investment in Bangladesh (USD 100.000 Mio volume), the supervision of 6 on-going projects across the three countries, and the completion reporting and official closing of 3 operations in China. I am leaving the position due to a promotion to a new position in the Eastern and Southern Africa Division.

As Associate Programme Officer I am responsible for supporting the country director of Malawi, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Lesotho on his every-day tasks. Specifically I am delegated to co-lead project supervision of one Value Chain Development project in Malawi (RLEEP), and support the start-up of a newly design investment in Lesotho (WAMPP). I further co-lead the development of country strategic documents, including the new IFAD strategy for Malawi (COSOP 2016 -2021).

Within the Policy and Technical Advisory Dev. (PTA) we assist IFAD's operational staff in designing and reviewing projects. Technical advise focuses on value chain analysis (mapping, etc.) and integrating smallholder into rural, national and international markets.
