I manage the moving and handling team (9 staff) providing an expert specialised service covering all aspects of moving and handling/risk management/patient safety for Northumbria Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust. With nearly 10,000 employees and a very large catchment area (from the Scottish borders to the Tyne and across to Hexham and the border with Cumbria), Northumbria covers integrated care provision throughout Tyneside and Northumberland,(apart from Newcastle). In June 2015 we had the new Northumbria hospital added to our remit, one of the first hospitals of its kind in the UK covering a 24/7 aspect of emergency care. Besides managing the team and dealing with all the strategic requirements of my post I still train, teach,consult and provide reports as an ergonomist and physiotherapist, including external expert opinions.At present working on a modular system of course presentation, investigating different platforms of education and reshaping the infrastructure of the department to encompass electronic patient records, as well as training and teaching four new members of the team to legally-defensive standards.
