• Managing and performing major risk based, key systems, regulatory and advisory reviews contributing to the delivery of the Strategic Audit Plan. Across all portfolios within Local Government.• Identification of objectives, risks, the expected controls, and testing strategy.• Independent working on all reviews, applying technical knowledge throughout, including project managing and undertaking assignments from initial contact to debrief and preparation of evidence-based audit reports and memos.• Planning work to complete and coordinate several complex audit assignments to meet time budgets, deadlines and client requirements, with the ability to reprioritise work to meet these conflicting needs.• Excellent communication skills, in both writing and verbally. Engaging with key stakeholders including Chief Officers and all levels of management and staff, both within the Authority and for external clients. Ability to persuade clients of the validity of actions resulting from audit findings and negotiate the methodology and timescale for those actions.• Able to manage and overcome contentious or unreceptive reactions to audit work.• Providing consultancy support to Management when requested. Such as development of new policies and delivery of projects.• Undertaking both pro-active and reactive fraud investigations.• Providing detailed analysis of audit actions to stakeholders via Computer Assisted Auditing software.• Following up with management to implement and track audit actions.• CIPFA Professional Qualification exams completed (Chartered Public Finance Accountant). Award of designation pending submission of professional portfolio.• Mentoring and management of audit trainee. Supervising their work and providing support where necessary.• Preparation of key reports in line with predetermined timeframes.• Providing advisory role on Project Board for Advance Payment Facility. Ensuring key risks and controls had been considered by Project Sponsors.
