For more than 25 years, NDI has worked with democratic parties in over 50 countries around the world to create more open political environments in which citizens can actively participate in the democratic process. As a political party institute, NDI approaches its work from a practical viewpoint, sharing tools and techniques that parties can use to develop stronger connections to the public, mount competitive electoral campaigns, and perform more effectively in the legislature. The Institute’s multi-partisan programs seek to foster vibrant, competitive, and sustainable multiparty systems rather than to promote particular parties or ideologies.

The Governance and Development programme provides students with a theoretically informed understanding of debates on governance, enhancing their capacity to develop and implement policies in NGOs and public organisations. This MA aims to cover both the 'state-centric' and 'societal' aspects of governance, although the primary focus is on the functioning of political institutions in their societal context.

Rural Home Preventative Health Peace Corps Volunteer• Three months of language and culture training• Three months of Health training – trained as: Preventative Health Technician • Worked in Health Center with Rural Health Technician • Gave talks and workshops on various health topics including, but not limited to: HIV/AIDS, Basic Hygiene, STDs, Uterine Cancer, Hygiene in the home and bacteria and germs. • Raised money through donations and USAID/SPA grant for a stove and cement floor project - Built 32 safe wood burning stoves and 32 cement floors in two communities• Lived and worked in small rural Guatemalan village• Co-organized and ran summer vacation camp for local children• Healthy Homes Representative, Accounts Director and Communications Officer for the Gender and Development (GAD) Committee – working to help volunteers understand Gender within the Development world, during their time as volunteers.
