I am a senior scientist (DR0) at CNRS. I have published more than 150 publications in international journals in different fields of Earth sciences: Fracturing, Tectonics, Hydrogeology, Watershed hydrology, Erosion and sediment transfer, Physics of magmas. My background is in theoretical physics with a long experience in the modeling of complex natural processes from experimental, numerical, and theoretical points of view. I have an internationally recognized expertise on several important issues of Earth Sciences: lithosphere deformation, geological fracturing, hydrogeology of heterogeneous aquifers, and river dynamics. My publications have been cited more than 15000 times (H-index: 68, source Google Scholar). I was awarded by the CNRS (Bronze medal), the French Academy of Science (Grand Prix Poirson, Prix Barrabé), and the Geological Society of France (Barabbé prize). For 15 years, I have been contracted by ITASCA consulting group and the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company to work on safety assessments for geologic radioactive waste disposal systems. I developed Discrete Fracture Network Models that are now widely used for hydraulic and mechanical properties in the Environment. I have developed the Hydrogeology and Geomorphology groups in Rennes, both including 22 permanent positions of researchers and engineers. I have a long experience of project manager as PI of 11 National and 7 European projects. I was chairman of the National Committee for Earth Sciences at the CNRS from 2006 to 2011.I was director of the UMR Geosciences Rennes (1996-2000), and I created and chaired the Observatory of Planetary Sciences in Rennes, which is a faculty of the University of Rennes I with 250 researchers in geosciences, ecology, archeology, and geography.I created in 2018 and now runs the Fractory, a joint laboratory between the CNRS, the university of Rennes and Itasca consultants, a SME specialized in geomechanical modeling. The Fractory conducts research on the modeling and monitoring of environmental systems mostly for safety assessment issues. 12 people currently work for the Fractory, 3 PhD, 2 post-docs, 5 engineers and 2 researchers. The Fractory develops two major numerical platforms: DFN.lab on Discrete Fracture Network modeling and River.lab on river and landscape dynamics.
