Enabled by the Laura and Arthur Colwin Endowed Summer Research Fellowship Fund, this Whitman Center Research Award has enabled me to work with resident MBL scientists on coral growth and behaviour, as well as to advance the usage of low-light microscopy for marine organisms. This is a very useful tool for many research groups, and contributes to establishing several of the marine species used at the MBL as model organisms for development, environmental research, and photobiology. There is no other place in the world that combines a passion for marine research with such an appreciation for imaging. To be able to work collaboratively in such a place has been a unique opportunity.
