Post go-live implementation of Microsoft Dynamics GP ERP system. Several modules including purchasing, inventory control, accounts receivable, customer order entry and custom reporting.

IT Director for 3 ERP systems in Utah, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania, including SAP, Fourth Shift, and Prophet 21. Migrated these systems to Divisional ERP Systems running on AS 400. Budgetary responsibility, and supervised a technical staff. Responsible for ERP systems with interconnections to corporate and various departmental platforms, including SaleForce.com and EDI. I was point-of-contact for all system and infrastructure issues.Participated in rollout of the North American data warehouse, applying my Microsoft BI knowledge to incorporate my division’s data into the larger enterprise. This included the creation of automated interfaces to move data between disparate corporate platforms.Successfully deployed SharePoint by creating sites for every department and training users. Developed the IT Team Site into the main portal for system documentation, standard procedures, project tracking, and issue lists.

Developed a very large BI data warehouse for use by Actuarial, Sales, and Marketing departments. It facilitated statistical analysis and data mining by the actuarials, territorial sales performance reports for the sales teams, and policy in-force coverage for the marketing groups.Wrote the extraction code that pulls data from the corporate IBM mainframe, transforms the data into readable information, and loads it into the cubes. This was all done using Microsoft BI platform. This was 14 months of full time work from start to successful completion.

Senior ERP Implemation team member in very large multi-company manufacturing corporation: $5 Billion in sales and 60+ companies at over 120 plants. Each company was financially independent. Microsoft Dynamics AX and Infor Lawson M3 installed over many legacy ERP systems.Created an extensive sales data warehousing system using Microsoft BI platfodm and Lawson BPI. User interface implemented using SharePoint and Excel.

ERP System Implemenltation Leader and Director of IT. Implemented Macola ERP and then continued as Director of IT, which required me to implement all manner of IT functionality. Constructed server rooms, configured wired and wireless networking, installed server operating systems, ERP software, databases, data and power backups, trenched inter-plant fiber optics, established internet connectivity and WAN interconnectivity with other locations. Deployed several generations of Windows workstations, and fulfilled requests for reports and ERP customization.Hired as an ERP expert to lead the management team in recovering from previous unsucessful go-live. Held weekly classes for a year, training managers in ERP skils, such as inventory control, plant scheduling, sale and operations planning, etc. I reengineered processes, making fundamental changes, and redesigned the chart of accounts and the financial close. Under my direction, within 18 months all aspects of ERP were functional. The inventory accuracy was 98% and the open order file was perfect. The financial system was fully functional, with all sub ledgers consistent with the GL. This success was duplicated at another multi-plant site in Beloit WI, and then again in Phoenix, AZ.Wrote plant scheduling system in MS C# and SQL Server that allowed Customer Service to commit plant time and maintain valid manufacturing schedules in real-time while speaking directly to general contractors. This eliminated overloaded schedules and late deliveries, allowing customers to properly plan building construction. Production runs would ship to active job sites, rather than sit in inventory. Turns increased several fold and lead times were cut. I introduced the Theory of Constraints, which I built into the software.

Exact referred me to businesses that were having difficulty implementing Macola ERP software. I would assess a project in process, make recommendations, write customizations and reports, and propose process changes. It was very educational to see so many different kinds of businesses using a platform I knew well. I became established as an ERP troubleshooting consultant, educating myself with Oliver Wight and APICS

Project manager and application engineer for the world’s leading manufacturer of hydroelectric turbines. I created complex proposals for hydro electric projects in the $20-30 million range, and presented them to the power utilities. Acted as primary contact from first bid through manufacturing and delivery. Extensive travel to dam construction sites and foreign suppliers.

Project Engineer for the installation of cogeneration equipment. Managed all aspects of generator intertie to electrical power grind and building interface to HVAC/water systems. Drawing board engineering and hands-on site work.

Managed engineering department of heat exchanger manufacturer, my family’s business. I developed new heat transfer equipment designs and sold them to industrial/commercial applications. Wrote complex computer software to optimize heat transfer equipment. To this day, the equipment I designed and invented is still being sold.Prior to college, I worked on the plant floor, and mastered every skill needed to fabricate the products. Later, as an engineer, I would design products and build the prototypes myself. This allowed me to create the BOM’s and routers, design the manufacturing process, and fully cost the product line. The optimization computer code would then configure the units to minimize labor and materials. My time spend in the factory contributes to an over-all manufacturing perspective. I have been fortunate to have so many experiences in various areas of manufacturing.
