I'm a computational scientist working in Artificial Intelligence. My Ph.D. focused on the automatic revision of scientific theories. Expertise:– My primary focus is to combine mathematical and probabilistic reasoning (a.k.a. "higher-order probabilistic programming"). It involves understanding type theory, languages for formal mathematics like Lean, verification methods, and Bayesian probabilistic programming.– Machine learning. I did studies with both standard methods (random forests et al.) and less orthodox ideas (I designed an algorithm to learn fuzzy rules).– Bayesian data analysis, with a special focus on the new generation of rich probabilistic programming languages such as Pyro and Anglican.– High-performance computing: especially C, modern C++, and now Rust (I've also been using CUDA since 2009). I can write Python, but I generally write my algorithms in C/C++/Rust and make a Python interface.– For my Ph.D. I worked on theoretical population genetics, evolutionary theory, and theoretical ecology.
