After a career in management at Royal Mail, I have been involved in asset-based grassroots initiatives like time banking, volunteering, giving schemes and collaborations to increase participation and build resilient and sustainable communities through vision, fundraising and robust governance.During my tenure at Rushey Green Time Bank/Lewisham Local, we instigated the'Lewisham Local 'Community Contributor Card' scheme. This innovative initiative acknowledges the invaluable role of volunteers and local business in strengthening communities. Lewisham Local has become a pioneer in place-based giving in Lewisham http://lewishamlocal.com, and is home to the Wild Cat Wilderness green project, Lewisham FoodCycle, and the Bank of Things.In 2011, I became one of fifteen ‘London Leaders’ selected by the London Sustainability Development Commission. My work has also taken me abroad in the US and Europe, sharing with others what we do in Lewisham, as well as also learning from other people and projects.I am deeply interested in people and projects that bring together diverse perspectives to create place-based initiatives that sustain the local economy and incentivise giving and volunteering. I firmly believe in equality and advocate for strong governance, which is the backbone of a well-run and sustainable organisation.My passion lies in supporting and collaborating with talented individuals with ideas, vision, and passion.
