Master's degree in Social Anthropology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil) and PhD in Cultural Geography from the University of Groningen (Netherlands). Specializing in interethnic relations and social movements, I currently teach Spatial Planning and Impact Assessment at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Spatial Sciences.With over 15 years of professional experience, I have worked extensively with Indigenous peoples and traditional communities, non-governmental organizations, international financial institutions and the private sector. I also serve as an independent consultant, focusing on social impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, and adapting projects to diverse cultural contexts in collaboration with local communities. My expertise includes implementing and overseeing environmental and social safeguards in accordance with international standards across various industries, such as Renewable Energy, Agriculture, Mining, Logistics, Oil & Gas, and Infrastructure. I am proficient in compliance due diligence for International Financial Institutions; applying the IFC/WB Performance Standards on Environmental & Social Sustainability; conducting Environmental & Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs); managing Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation; developing Resettlement Action Plans; handling Grievance Redress Mechanisms; and addressing issues related to Human Rights, Labor and Working Conditions, Occupational Health and Safety (SA 8000), and Risk Management.
