CleanFi returns instant financing indicatives, and offers customer funding applications depending on the solutions selected...all in less than 60 seconds. Since its 2021 launch, CleanFi has responded to hundreds of millions of dollars of project inquiries nationally.

Solar, power storage, EV fueling, grey water, desalination...these major infrastructure changes in our society are creating a rapidly growing need for a variety of financing solutions. Funders turn to us to identify origination opportunities in order to fill a capital pool. Project developers and property owners turn to us to match them with a funding partner. Clean Financing matches funders to projects from small non-profit commercial scale to industrial plants and solar farms or regional scale projects.

We fund or find funding for commercial property improvement projects. As C-PACE funding specialists, we source tax-equity to fund Power Purchase Agreements, pre-paid PPA's and leases, mission-specific capital, and anything else we needed to get sustainability infrastructure projects done. We also create private PACE funds for large originators. Our specialty is medium and small commercial projects.

Per my November '15 article (see "Articles" above) about the potential of PACE to have significant impact on US infrastructure and the economy, I've joined the Ygrene team to help lead the development of new products and new initiatives.Ygrene is a leading PACE provider in the nation, the first and only company in the sector to receive a AAA bond rating in a securitization (Dec. '16), as well as an "Excellent" Green bond rating. The projects Ygrene funds bring energy and water efficiency to buildings across California, Florida, and Missouri.

(updated 2015)In leading PHAT Energy from a start-up in 2006 (LegalZoom Start-up Of The Year, 2007) to a strong regional brand, my job initially was making a financial case for distributed solar energy. We created among the first automated models in the industry. Integral to the job was training a new generation of sales people: solar had neither a legacy sales force nor method. Navigating through the 2008 financial crisis became the unexpected next challenge, which changed the industry to financing-centric and forced us to commit deeply to Sunpower. I led the company to "best of breed" within their ranks. Finally, it seemed key to me to differentiate the company through value propositions and niche solutions. We did that by developing original installation solutions of our own. The larger players in the industry focused on developing financing programs, and my biggest management regret is not having had the resources to keep up with that revolution with internal financing.Commitment to customer service brought us the distinction of being among the first 40 dealers in America to receive the Sunpower Elite Dealer status.During my tenure, PHAT Energy innovated structurally with design, use of materials, and installation methods, creating solar environments that look beautiful and are of leading efficiency. We developed a patented structure called the PHATport, which was one of the first architectural, pre-designed alternatives to roof-mounts. We received multiple trade magazine covers, as well as numerous other honors for our work. See media below. During my time as CEO, we instituted the first solar company working relationship with Homeboy Industries to give hands-on solar training experience to their graduates, a story that was documented in a cover/feature article in Solar Today magazine, as well as in the Wall Street Journal and Good Morning America. We gave many people at all job levels their entry into a solar career; I'm proud of that.

My transition from being a media/internet exec to the solar industry, once I made up my mind, was through this early leader in residential installations in California. They were innovative, developing the largest base of Building Integrated Solar in the industry at the time, using Sharp's product as their largest dealer in the country. It was my privilege to be taken on as a team member to help open new markets, negotiate relationships with suppliers such as GE solar panels, and facilitate their early international business strategy as I helped them open up the promising solar country of Spain.
