Founded in 1890 by his ancestor, Viscount Ferreira D'Almeida it's been near and dear to Philippe since his childhood, when his maternal grandmother, Regina Bernardes Regis Bittencourt was at the helm. In 1995, his mother, Maria Antonia Regis Bittencourt took over, overseeing a massive restructuring that brought along the implementation of various programs aimed at ameliorating the daily life and well-being of its residents and its employees - the true backbone of the institution. To this day, Mrs. Bittencourt remains an ever-present staple and executive force at Casa São Luiz. In 2020, Philippe veered his focus to the beloved institution he grew up loving, in hopes of bringing about lasting technological, operational and organizational change from the ground up. His core approach is to lead with his heart and listen to the needs of the over 170 employees and help connect their wishes, ideas and dreams with those of Casa São Luiz's vast network of collaborators, donors, healthcare professionals and help execute sweeping change to compete in today's global marketplace. As Brazil's population ages and opportunity in the elderly sector expands Casa São Luiz is in the midst of a massive overhaul that aims to expand its services to the ever-growing demands and varying profiles of its citizens, regardless of income or social status. When the 2020 pandemic brought businesses worldwide to a collective halt, Casa São Luiz faced a race against the clock to ensure it protected the health, well-being and routine that its employees and most importantly, its residents relied upon.
