Instructor in the Department of Health Systems Management, Rush College of Health Sciences

Responsible for the overall strategic growth and day-to-day operations of multiple ambulatory programs including Rehabilitation Services, Orthopedic and Specialty Care, Neuro Diagnostics, Outpatient Maternal Fetal Medicine, Medical Oncology Services, Radiation Therapy, Wound Care, and several residency based outpatient clinics including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and OB. Provide leadership and support to 9 clinical program/practice managers and over 200 full time employees including both clinical and non-clinical staff.

Oversaw Patient Access activities and developed performance strategies for 11 Acute Care Hospitals in the Presence Health System. Supported 6 Regional Directors and more than 400 FTEs focused on providing exceptional care to patients. Collaborate with each hospital’s Senior Leadership team to innovate, develop, and fulfill on ground breaking Patient Access practices while ensuring all metrics and goals are exceeded.

Oversaw Patient Access activities between two hospitals- Presence Saint Francis- Evanston, IL (255 beds- Level I Trauma) and Presence Saint Joseph Hospital- Chicago, IL (327 beds). Responsible for oversight of 60 full-time employees and 2 managers serving in a variety of hospital functions including out-patient, emergency room registration, admitting/in-patient, and financial counseling. Maintained high-levels of patient, associate, and physician satisfaction while still producing high a rate of return for both hospitals.

Oversaw Patient Access activities with a staff of 75 full-time employees and three managers serving in a variety of hospital functions including out-patient, emergency room registration, bed management, admitting/in-patient, insurance verification, financial counseling and central scheduling.

Management: oversees and is accountable for all patient access service functions/54 staff and 2 supervisors (Includes: admitting, outpatient registration, ED registration, pre-registration, insurance verification and pre-auth/certification, Centralized Scheduling,referral management and Bed Management). Prepares capital and operating budgets.Patient Throughput: Responsible for all patient placement from ED, OR, Cath Lab and direct admits. Continuously focused on decreasing patient throughput by partnering with clinical leadership across the medical center. Revenue Cycle Management: accountable for ensuring appropriate reimbursement and collections for all hospital services; thorough understanding of regulatory and accreditation requirements for government and third party agencies. Partners with other Revenue Cycle leaders to promote a shared understanding and accountability of all processes within the Revenue Cycle. Associate Engagement: promotes organizational and individual success through ongoing support, engagement, and effective teamwork to enhance tenure, accountability, quality and productivity. Oversees the department's training/quality and education team. Risk/Regulatory: accountable for the development, implementation and compliance of Patient Access Services department policies and procedures. Responsible for the review, process, and accurate assessment of said policies and procedures to ensure regulatory standards. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to Patient Access Services. Patient/Customer Satisfaction: promotes the patient experience by auditing and monitoring Key Result Areas and tools (Press Ganey, HCAPS, patient wait times, AIDET and the Studer Principles
