I initially started at Dev in an apprenticeship position, working with both the Video Editing team and the Admin and Project Management team. This allowed me to not only learn and progress in my own department, but also get a general understanding of the business and it's working practices. Once I had completed my apprenticeship, I was give a full-time position at the company as a Video Editor.My role involves following a video project though it's entire life-cycle, from the brief-taking, planning and presenting meetings with clients, through to the editing and final production at the end. I work with the team to brainstorm and research ideas based on the clients brief, and then storyboard this into a working video idea.I use Premiere Pro for the majority of my role to cut and edit footage together, including grading and any sound design required. After Effects is used for any additional effects, motion graphics or animated content, and Photoshop may be used to create any assets that are needed. I am also required to use Camera Raw in order to edit any photography that was taken for the client, and export it in the format they require.I am responsible for the storage and organisation of footage, backing it up when it's brought in by the camera operatives and it's efficient naming and organisation to allow it to be located when it is needed. I am also responsible for through-project communication with the client, including setting expectation, delivery of the final product and organising any amendments based on their feedback.
