About Philip Taylor

After 32 years in a wide variety of roles at IBM, I made a complete change and moved to work at the South East Coast Ambulance Service Trust - one of the UK's emergency ambulance trusts. Having started as an Emergency Care Support Worker, I have worked through two apprenticeships, the last one leading to a BSc(Hons) in Paramedic Science, and at the beginning of June 2024 I became a registered paramedic.My last role at IBM was as leader of the European Artificial Intelligence division in Europe, known as IBM Watson. Prior to this I was the leader of IBM UK and Ireland's sales transformation programme, an evolution of our structure and focus to enable our sales force to bring great value to clients as the industry moves rapidly towards the worlds of Cloud, Analytics, Mobile and Social computing.In 2013 I was IBM Global Client Director for Ericsson Group, which saw me in Stockholm and around the world bringing IBM solutions and ideas to Ericsson.Previous to that I've had roles in sales management and client management roles, selling business process outsourcin, and also in operational roles in the UK and Europe. I'm a proud member of IBM's Corporate Service Corps, and in 2009 was part of the first team of 14 IBM volunteers from 8 countries to spend a month in Sao Paolo, Brazil, working on specific projects with 5 NGOs. A fascinating experience and wonderful to be part of this programme bringing the global strength of IBM to these organisations.Volunteering is an important part of my life and from 2002-2010 I chaired the Mid Surrey Link of the Chernobyl Children's Life Line, bringing groups of children from Belarus where they live in areas contaminated from the 1986 Chernobyl disaster to the UK for 4-week respite holidays. I'm also a Trustee and Director of the Nonsuch and Wallington Education Trust, where I chair the HR committee.Specialities: My client-facing experience has been working with retailers and Industrial companies, eg supermarkets like Tesco and the downstream part of BP, and bringing IBM solutions to them.
