It is a hybrid style that incorporates concepts and techniques from other martial arts, unified into a complete and effective system. Combat Hapkido is pure self defense. It is not a sport/competition martial art, nor are there any forms/katas.Combat Hapkido students are carefully trained to defend themselves using a combination of flowing movement and force redirection, practical striking and kicking skills, pressure points and a variety of joint locking and submission techniques. The complete spectrum of close quarter tactics includes ground survival/grappling, and gun, knife and stick (blunt object) disarming, all of which are considered necessary components of modern self-defense.The result is a practical, comprehensive self defense system that is enjoyable to learn and truly effective in realistic situations. It is well suited for men and women of all ages and sizes because physical strength and athletic abilities are not essential.
