Scottish Borders

I helped a former colleague launch his new, independent local newspaper in August 2016. When The Hawick Paper was up and running I worked oon a freelance basis as sports editor and deputy editor. I did freelance work at The Scotsman and Edinburgh Evening News on both the sport and news desks and copywriting for PR agency Tweed Media International. I also did PR work for Scotland Starts Here, a new tourism agency promoting the south of Scotland.

Scottish Borders

Responsible for managing accounts, copy writing, social media and project management at Tweed Media International, an award-winning specialist PR and marketing consultancy to the global outdoor sector and based in the Scottish Borders.

Selkirk And Berwick-Upon-Tweed

Responsible for around 20 staff, six newspapers and their multi-media platforms across the south of Scotland. As group editor, I was responsible and legally accountable for the content and production of The Southern Reporter, The Berwickshire News, Selkirk Weekend Advertiser, the Hawick News, Galloway Gazette and Carrick Gazette in print and online. I was responsible for the weekly production of more than 22,000 print copies, 6 websites which attract 50,000 unique visitors, and 6 Twitter accounts with more than 10,000 followers. I managed the editorial department and three company offices.

Berwick-Upon-Tweed

I successfully relaunched two regional newspapers, The Berwick Advertiser and The Berwickshire News, from broadsheet to compact in March 2013, generating a circulation bounce
