As Data Quality Lead within Marsh Data Services (MDS) I am responsible for creating an overarching data quality strategy for the MDS organisation and developing best practices for data quality throughout Marsh.My role involves communicating the data quality strategy, best practices, approach and progress within various business domains (e.g. claims, policy management, fiduciary) which entails liaison with business and operations leadership to establish organisational ownership and stewardship for data quality rules, issue management, remediation, and data quality reporting.I am driving understanding of relevant initiatives that could improve data quality within a region, application, or business domain and liaising with transformation office and program management colleagues, creating content and presentations necessary to surface MDS data quality activities. This includes coordinating with Regional Data Leaders and their respective regions to make sure global data quality standards are applied locally while ensuring local data quality requirements are considered when defining global standards.

Within a team of Architects, each with a specific technology and/or vertical remit, my role initially involved defining solutions encompassing the Oracle Data Warehouse, SAP BusinessObjects and Qlik (View & Sense). I have worked on the integration/migration of data from two major acquisitions into the Marsh environment. This involved liaising with offshore development and support teams, comparing functionality against requirements and reviewing solutions and code to ensure delivery of the best solutions. Latterly I have additionally become the Global Data Architect for the Claims domain on a project to move operations to best of breed solutions; this has meant a steep learning curve to become the trusted point of contact for the management and project teams.Responsibilities• Architectural oversight of Data Warehouse, Business Objects, Qlik and related solutions • Global Claims Data Architect • Approver for code and assets being migrated into UAT and Production environments• SME for data architecture capabilities and standards• Knowledge lead for Acturis Data Warehouse and toolkit across multiple entities

Having joined the club after the covid years, I joined the committee in March 2023 in order to get more involved in the running of the club. Unfortunately the Secretary at the time stood down at the same AGM and after a period without anyone I stepped up into the role (August 2023). This presented an opportunity to get involved in things that have not been a significant feature of my working career, so I anticipate this experience will give me more skills and more adaptability.Angmering Cycling Club is a community club and welcomes cyclists of all levels and abilities. We are a diverse group who all share in the passion of cycling. We have regular ride-outs, social events and trips away.

In this role I was responsible for the definition and governance of the data warehouse and reporting elements of the Hachette Enterprise Architecture and for ensuring that integrity within those elements was consistently maintained through change. I coached, mentored and trained the Business Intelligence development and support staff and served as a subject matter expert for Business Intelligence, and the best options for future development to ensure on-going business value.I worked with the Business Process team to assess requirements and present functional design proposals for any reports or report-driven requirements and then obtained business approval before handover to the Solutions Development team for development. This required that I maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and any key principles or standards relevant specifically to Business Intelligence and also the HUK Architecture framework, were understood and accepted by the business.

I head up a team of talented Business Intelligence Analysts who support, maintain and develop Hachette UK's Data Warehouse, Cognos Business Intelligence, SAP-BW and related systems.

Latterly spent two years on contract through Newell & Budge at Virgin Atlantic, I was originally bought in as an MIS Developer with a remit to streamline the MIS Support processes and procedures, I was able to significantly reduce the workload early on using automation and by questioning the validity of existing processes. During this time I worked within the team as first-line support for the Business Objects users. I was able to utilise my Technical Support skills to enhance the infrastructure and automate some processes, this led me to take the role of MIS Systems Architect. In this new role I was responsible for the Business Objects infrastructure including the WebIntelligence/BCA cluster, Citrix servers running Full Client, and MIS Team desktop applications, to include upgrades/installs and problem resolution. I was also responsible for maintaining the infrastructure supporting ETL , version control and Web Log analysis tools within MIS. Most recently I planned and implemented the new Business Objects v6.5 infrastructure including Full Client on Citrix, a WebIntelligence/BCA cluster using WebLogic Web/Application server and Application Foundation. Migration of users to this version was ongoing when I moved to Hachette UK
