Acquired headcount, built team, processes, and tools.

Help mobile payments companies scale. Bank the unbanked in Africa and Asia.The Mobile Money for the Unbanked program at the GSMA supports mobile payments providers in emerging markets in reaching commercial scale. The program was funded by the Gates Foundation, Omidyar Network and MasterCard Foundation. Personal areas of focus include customer analytics, technology platforms, and distribution channels. Authored a handful of white papers (see “publications”).Worked with 25 companies (mostly major telecoms) across 18 countries.

LeapFrog is the world's first microinsurance private equity fund. The fund targets strong returns for investors while reaching 25 million vulnerable people in Africa and Asia with life-changing financial services.Drove deal structuring, valuation, due diligence, and strategic planning for LeapFrog’s African investment targets (banks, insurers, distributors, technology companies). My particular area of expertise within the fund was mobile distribution of financial services. Was lead associate on deal that won “Deal of the Year: Small Cap” at Private Equity Africa awards, producing an outsized IRR and significantly expanding insurance access in Ghana.

MAP International partners with mobile network operators and financial institutions in emerging markets to launch mobile and branchless banking products targeted at the unbanked and underserved consumer.Co-led commercial operations at fast-paced start-up. Partnered with Uganda Telecom (MNO) to launch “M-Sente” mobile payment service which registered over 10% of their mobile subscriber base within 9 months. Launched the first non-bank POS terminal network in Uganda and rolled out to 6 national retailers.
