I served my coach building and repair apprenticeship with West Yorkshire PTE ,I then completed an apprentice trainer course.After working out of the trade for six months I worked for duple coach-builders in Blackpool,but after only twelve months I was made redundant along with 250 other employees.Following a job as a welder with a local firm ,I then moved on to plaxton coach-builders in Scarborough which I left after a year after being offered a job nearer home at keighley coach works.After 3 years I was offered a position at uvmodular in Brighouse building ambulances,l remained there for 17 years working from shop floor to supervisor then line manager.(during my time there I was sent to Malaysia to build 6 ambulances for the commonwealth games).following the company going into administration I then moved to Richard Baldwin motor homes working on servicing motor homes for 4 years I was then offered a job with what I thought would have better prospects at Mellor coach craft in Rochdale building mobility buses on various chassis’s,this is my current employment were I have been for 6 years.
