The main business was a niche legal company providing court advocacy services to UK financial institutions and law firms. However, there were also another four trading limited companies, ranging from the leisure industry to self-storage to management, along with two holding companies. Also, an investment property partnership.During my time there I was able to make the following improvements:-• Oversaw the development of the accounts department from one which had no interim or annual reporting to one which had monthly management accounts, cashflows, budget v actual and annual final accounts provided to external auditors. This included streamlining from 5 account assistants to 2.• Reduction of ledger debtors from over £300k at month end to under £150k and of ledger creditors from over £250k at month end to under £100k.• Several major cost savings projects throughout the office, specifically with telephone costs and printing costs. Savings of over 35% were achieved in both areas.I also oversaw the financial control and reporting of a European grant funded (with Welsh European Funding Office) commercial property refurbishment with a £1.5 million value.
