Sr. Systems Engineer
CurrentAs the Primary AWS Engineer for Quantcast’s Internal IT Department, I drive automation initiatives and mentor engineers and operational staff to improve our cloud infrastructure. I focus on creating scalable, efficient solutions with Terraform to manage AWS, ensuring consistency, best practices, and adherence to company standards. I utilize GitHub for version control, enabling seamless collaboration across the team’s Terraform codebase.▪ Implemented Terraform automation within our department’s AWS infrastructure, streamlining the provisioning of resources, reducing deployment times by 40%, and improving consistency and scalability in cloud resource management.▪ Developed and enforced infrastructure-as-code (IaC) standards that improved consistency and reduced the risk of errors in deployment, allowing the team to scale resources efficiently.▪ Led a project to automate the deployment and setup of Linux and Windows EC2 instances using AWS Systems Manager, Terraform, and Ansible playbooks. This process included joining instances to Active Directory, installing core software, and ensuring that machines were configured according to internal standards, reducing manual setup time by 50%.▪ Contributed to the development and testing of disaster recovery plans for AWS workloads, integrating Veeam Backup for AWS to streamline backup processes and ensure rapid recovery in the event of a failure, minimizing downtime and improving recovery efficiency.▪ Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of reusable Terraform modules to standardize and streamline infrastructure provisioning, ensuring consistency and scalability within our department’s AWS infrastructure.▪ Collaborated with the team to identify and implement cost-saving measures in the AWS environment, such as rightsizing EC2 instances, optimizing EBS volumes, EFS storage, and S3 usage, leading to a reduction in cloud spending while maintaining performance.
