Hello world! My name is Phillip Quast and I am the Watershed Coordinator for the City of New Braunfels, Texas. In my current position I oversee and assist with the implementation of many water quality initiatives within the city including a watershed protection plan for the Comal River and the Dry Comal Creek, a habitat conservation plan protecting endangered species found in the Comal River spring system, and the city's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program. I thrive in an independent work environment and have honed my skills required to oversee many projects and assignments concurrently.My previous employment was with the Native Prairies Association of Texas, a nonprofit land trust that focuses on conserving native grasslands in Texas. I worked with the organization as the program director for 9 years. My duties included landowner relations for new and existing conservation projects, preparation of vital documents required for land conservation transactions, coordination of land management activities, and management of our state office in San Marcos, Texas.Also, I am the conservation committee chairperson and former board member for the San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance, an advocacy group for the creation and maintenance of trails, greenbelts, and otherwise designated green space in San Marcos, Texas.I am a founding member of the San Marcos Facial Hair Club, a community service organization that focuses on helping residents and other charitable organizations in San Marcos and Hays county. We have held fundraisers to support the Greater San Marcos Youth Council, the Hays Caldwell Women's Center, and the Salvation Army. We have adopted a section of Purgatory Creek and are responsible for coordinating quarterly creek and park cleanups to help protect the San Marcos River watershed.
