In addition, I've documented the Search & Rescue system sufficient for operator training needs. In my spare time, I’m currently researching the ability to support software/systems engineers in the generation of requirements specifications. My approach is to start with a single sentence describing the system to be developed, identification of noun phrases within this sentence and then guiding the engineer in the hierarchical decomposition of these noun phrases until the specification completes (i.e., the noun phrase definition is adequately provided by a dictionary definition or the definition is understood by the graduate engineer). My motivations for this research stem from my own tortured experiences in the review of requirements specifications produced by the staff that I have managed and my frustrations from my own cognitive limitations experienced on complex projects.
