Interior Designer

Zeev Kitchens

Melbourne

I took this time to focus on the processes and capabilities of joinery and manufacturing. I have designed and documented over 100 kitchens, and collaborated with the project delivery of low to high-end kitchens and internal joinery ranging in $10K - $80K. I worked with the clients from the time they arrived at the showroom and the conception of the project, to the realization of the kitchen and completed installation. I enjoyed building customer relations and working to appease client dream ideals for their project.I was responsible for producing the design and rendered 3D drawings for each clients presentation and the final manufacturing drawings. Creating these drawings has enabled me to become proficient in the PlanIt software (Cabinet Vision). I expanded my technical skills by also undertaking formal training in the PlanIt software. “For over 12 months, Phillipa was our key designer and was often called upon to train new staff in the use of computer software”

Architectural Technician

Mark Pearse Architects

Sydney, Australia

For the year that I worked with Mark I was involved with high-end residential renovations and new builds. I learnt about the importance and responsibility of meeting deadlines, of effective people relations, professionalism to a high standard, taking ownership of works, and of efficient use of time. While at Mark Pearse Architects I developed confidence, initiative and presentations in contractor and client meetings, thoroughly appeasing the brief, and formal council and builder documentation. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the office and the interaction with the multi-disciplinary firms that shared the open first-floor space with us.Mark and I were a team of two, who together tackled the challenges of a strict Wollara City Council and the impeding building restrictions for the prestigious area and much talked about Wolseley Road. We succeeded in creating a bold glass front building with eccentric steel louvers yielding to the formidable sun and heat that’s typical of the area. The $2.4million renovation included many individual features throughout, including the award winning suspended concrete spiral staircase, elaborately clad in plush timber veneers. Using my technical skills, I was able to document in detail the method for creating the staircase. Mark and I took pride in our interior finishes for the house as well as the overall composition of the building. The house was featured in the ‘Houses’ magazine in 2010.Other projects included a waterfront half-house renovation in Vauclous (also was featured in ‘Houses’ magazine in 2010), a full-house renovation in Queenspark and a small renovation on a Harry Seidler house in Northern Sydney.“The projects had a high level of detail and were complex and demanding. I found that Phillipa was honest and diligent and learnt very well, and when she went to study architecture she was hard to replace”
