- Provide inpatient nursing care to cardiothoracic, neurology, surgical, and infusion/oncology stepdown level patients during 12-hour shifts- Optimize patient volume by analyzing and assessing acuity with nursing managers, charge nurses, and patient placement office to balance nursing-to-patient ratios and reduce patient wait times- Utilize electronic medical record software (EPIC, Cerner, Allscripts) to document patient information and monitor health trends- Delegate responsibilities as charge nurse between nurses and technicians, update nursing manager on any unit changes, and record shift metrics (staffing, capacity, medication administration, etc.) to balance workflow - Coordinate treatment as a team with multidisciplinary healthcare members to attain optimal health and continuity of care- Create, prioritize, implement, and evaluate care plans while communicating with and advocating for patients at a holistic level- Facilitate building patient relationships and educating at least 8 patients per shift on safe health management and resource identification- Compile unit data once a month as the unit-council leader to analyze patient safety over time, and meet with other leaders across the hospital to communicate increasing patient safety through data-driven analyses
