Monitor vital signs, EKG, hemodynamic intra-arterial lines, and venous lines. Interpret hemodynamic pressures. Manage the of care of Unstable Angina, NSTEMI, and STEMI emergency patients. Equipment check list. Knowledge in set up and maintenance of Cath lab equipment including intravascular ultrasound, balloons, stents, catheters, guiders, wires defibrillator, ventilation machine, Intra Aortic Balloon pump. Impella 2.5 Ventricular assist device, Intra vascular ultrasound, Volcano fractional flow reserve device, trans-cutaneous pacemaker. Intra arterial / venous sheath removal both femoral and radial. Post cath patient monitoring. Assume charge nurse role. Manage the care of cerebral angiogram patients with cerebral pathology ranging from TIAs, RINDs, AVMs, epidural and sub dural hematomas, skull fracture, brain tumors, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Understanding of interventional neurological equipment such as stents, thrombectomy catheters, coils, and penumbra suction catheter. Familiar with biplane fluoroscopy suit. Management and handling of cerebral arterial pressure lines and tubing. Understanding of ventriculostomy setup and management for intra cerebral pressure monitoring. Rapid Response team member. Assist during respiratory and cardiac codes throughout hospital. Assist other units such as Emergency Department, ICU, SICU, Interventional Radiology, telemetry and med-surg floors.Documentation through electronic heath record software EPIC.
Instructor
Provide instruction to Radiology Technologists on proper venipuncture technique and injection of contrast material for CT and MRI scans. Topics of classes include, Venipuncture of a person’s upper extremity in a safe and effective manner. Anatomy and Physiology of venipuncture sites. Venipuncture instruments and related equipment. Techniques of intravenous line establishment. Hazards and complications of venipuncture. Post puncture care, cctions and reactions of contrast media. Emergency measures and medications required to deal with adverse reactions. Upon completion of the course, students obtain CE credits as well as IV Contrast Injection Certification.
