At WFC Architects I have striven to both grow and develop my knowledge as a designer and professional. During my time at WFC I have been involved in a wide variety of projects from Engine Space Design for Telecommunications facilities to University Student Involvement Centers.I have endeavored to apply my own insights and knowledge to all of my work while also learning as much about both the practical and professional sides of architecture. My work at WFC has involved:- Preparing Construction and Bid Document packages for clients including project manuals, construction drawings, bidding documents, and cost estimates.- Researching appropriate materials, finishes, and products to creatively solve complex design problems.- Developing construction documents for historic restoration projects and applying historically accurate and sensitive procedures to effectively rehabilitate historic buildings on the U.S. National Register.- Performing construction administration duties such as reviewing and processing submittals, attending construction meetings, observing work in place, review closeout documents, and assisting in processing progress payments in a timely manner.Involvement in all of these activities has helped further shape my ability as an architect and only accelerated my desire to complete the Architectural Registration Exam and become a licensed professional.

This position served as my second co-op during my time at Northeastern University. During my time at WLA I gained a vast understanding of the challenges of the design field in New York City.My responsibilities included- Preparing roof and facade designs to be sent out for bid to contractors- Creating details for structural facade repairs, roof repair and redesign, and fire escape repair.- Recognzing, assessing, and documenting repairs on site for a roof or facade repair.- Communicating with contractors and fabricators to expedite the construction processes.- Creating drawings for new projects for Department of Buildings review.Other skills I gained while working here include:- Assessing Submittals for project samples and material data sheets- Putting together sections for project specifications- Ensuring the accuracy and safety of projects according to the 1968 & 2008 New York City Building CodeMy time at WLA provided many challenges but also afforded me a number of opportunities for learning on the job. My knowledge of structural damages and the appropriate repairs for masonry and steel buildings increased greatly. I was also given the responsibility of handling the duties of a project manager. Including site visits, assessment of conditions, coordination of contractors, and preparation of documents and drawings.
