Direct and support all intelligence activities in support of the Brigade Commander's requirements. Provide guidance and training to Battalion level intelligence activities. Manage the training of the assigned Military Intelligence Warfighting Function and prepare all intelligence functions to deploy in support of Combined Arms Manuever and Wide Area Security operations. The culminating event of my one year tenure was a 30 day exercise at the Army's National Training Center at FT Irwin, CA. Those teams that embraced our training regimen and focused effort on ensuring their personnel were ready for the mission faired very well. The importance of shared training experiences, standardized means of communication, and teamwork was a key lesson learned from the exercise. The training plans and focus on Intelligence professional training resulting in a culture change within the Brigade and the adoption of our training plan by the next rotation of Brigade leaders in their preparation for deployment to Afghanistan.

Kandahar Airfield

Led a 150 person Joint Interagency Intergovernmental and Multinational contingent of Intelligence Analysts in providing support for the Commanding General of Regional Command South. Oversaw the production of single source and fused intelligence products to support the command's targeting, operations, and planning efforts. Additionally, supplied information to support host nation situational understanding and training. Key to my teams success was our ability to coordinate and collaborate with other intelligence staff elements across the country, within the region, and back in the US. It was not uncommon for me and my leadership team to coach junior team members to become recognized subject matter experts sought after by the Commanding General for their knowledge and insight into very complex problems. Building teams and leverage teams of teams was essential to our success.

I lead a section of over 80 Intelligence All Source, SIGINT, GEOINT, and other Analysts supporting the information requirements for the Commanding General of 4th ID and his Division Staff. I am responsible for the training and readiness of the section as we prepare for future operations. Using my unique experiences in combat deployments I am able to shape the 4th ID staff's knowledge and opinion on the problems we will face as we prepare for our deployment. Leveraging the remainder of the U.S. Government and Department of Defense Intelligence Community, My team is able to prepare not only ourselves but the entire 800 person staff for the challenges and opportunities we will face during our next combat deployment.

As a Future Operations Planner, I lead planning teams that drive the future operations and resource allocation to a multi-national team of over 20,000 people. Starting with directives from higher authorities and guidance from our senior commander, these planning teams focus on the efforts of our organization over the next 30-180 days within a broader campaign plan to achieve the effects and operational goals of the commander. Key within the planning effort is coordination with sister organizations, coordination with subordinate organizations, and collaboration with functional staff elements. While specializing in intelligence operations and planning, my education gives me the knowledge and experience to plan the full range of military operations.

As a student at SAMS, I studied the complexities of the Operational Level of War. This level of war is where leaders and their staff translate strategic objectives of policy makers into tactical activities in the militaries operating environment.
