I have over 30 years of experience in technical training including theory-of-operation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration procedures. I also have over 10 years of experience in ISD course development, technical service manual writing, and online training design & delivery including: self-paced CBT introduction and live online operations webinars in preparation for formal classroom lecture/lab training.With zero knowledge on the topics I end up teaching, I am proof that prior industry knowledge and experience is not always necessary; however, to compile a portfolio full of compliments from students who say that "my method of teaching was very clear and effective" takes decades of experience to achieve. When I teach, I "connect-the-dots" so they don't have to. I mention how one concept relates to the next and lead them down the path of deeper understanding in a way that makes sense to them. Novice instructors tell students to save all their questions until the end, while seasoned instructors invite the student to ask questions at any time. Questions help the student connect the dots between the known and unknown in their mind. If they don't make that connection, you will lose them and become ineffective. I also watch for body language and queues so I can dynamically adjust my delivery in real time. I know how to teach classes with mixed audiences from receptionists, to design engineers and scientists all in the same class, as proven by their test scores. I was able to keep the receptionist attentive, the engineer engaged, and the scientist interested by jumping between simple and complex levels of details when needed.I have experience in delivering technical training to audiences that do not speak English. Being bilingual would be convenient, but I can teach in any language with the help of interpreters. I know how to speak in bite-sized fragments so that the live interpreter does not leave out important details, as opposed to trying to summarize an entire paragraph of lecture.In my spare time, I love to invent solutions to everyday problems, and sometimes I like to design cool gadgets. I've been inventing since I was a kid and won a few first place awards with my working prototypes through the years. As a kid, I built a custom chopper bicycle from scrap parts with long forks, sissy bar, 5-speed, and full front and rear suspension.
