Tech Lead on DTO Exemplar project with DIBP Importing Goods into Australia.Agile team working to the DTO Digital Service Standard. Built a production system in 7 one week sprints. Spring-Boot, MySql. Responsible for designing modern, responsive applications that support biosecurity applications for the Department of Agriculture.Designed and built an application that supports the creation of complex forms using a simple business-friendly interface. Prototyped the application using AngularJS, Bootstrap, Node.js and MongoDB. Hosted in the cloud on C9.io and using MongoLab as the backend. The final production solution is built on in AngularJS and Bootsrtap with a Jersey Restful backend. Lead developer for a team responsible for building geospatial web and SOA based systems. • Developed and implemented architecture across the stack: AngularJS, Bootstrap, JQuery, OpenLayers, JSF2.0, Facelets and Ice Faces, Spring, JPA (Hibernate). The application runs on Tomcat 6 and uses Oracle 10g for application data.• Formed a development team and operated as team lead of four developers, two testers and a business analyst. The technology for SBSCH is EJB3.0, JPA (OpenJPA), JSF with RichFaces and Facelets. The database is DB2 and the Java application server is Websphere. The SBSCH won the Prime Ministers Award for Excellence in Public Service Management in 2011.• Develop code, architecture and database design. Construct JPA entities. Build EJBs and JSF pages with RichFaces and Facelets. • Designed and built a scheduled “batch” system using EJB to run jobs such as sending emails to customers, reporting changes to customer status.• Build process that generates a PDF financial statement for Superannuation Fund administrators using iText library. • Mentor junior developers. Software Developer and technical adviser in a team that was responsible for the software infrastructure that supported the delivery of Centrelink’s social security requirements. This system was known as the Intergrated System Income Security (ISIS). • Designed a system to administer a meta-data driven web-based menu for access to all staff-facing applications within Centrelink. The system was built using Groovy and Grails. • Designed and implemented changes to in-house web framework know as Janus Presentation Framework (JPF). Also produced technical and user manuals.• Designed and wrote mainframe screens in Model204 that consume web services hosted in Websphere.

Technical lead and software developer on system called Front Gate which is a Java EE web based inquiry system for land ownership and rural property identification. The system uses spatial information sourced from Department of Lands. During the Equine Influenza outbreak emergency across in NSW in 2007 Front Gate was used by DPI staff to assist mapping infectious areas during the emergency. The system allowed spatial layers to be created and saved by drawing geometries on a map. • Design and successfully implemented software components for Front Gate using Java EE, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSP, AJAX and JSON. Connects to Informix database using Hibernate and raw JDBC. Front Gate runs on Apache Tomcat.• Integration of Google Maps into the Front Gate system.• Design and built internet applications to support compliance for moving horses and registering events during the Equine Influenza outbreak. The application was built upon legacy propriety IBM Informix software called “appPage builder”.

Various roles including web development, Enterprise Architecture, Model204 development.• Build rich front-end AJAX driven browser application that allows developers to access Model204 Janus server framework using JavaScript, HTML, CSS and XSLT • Developed Eclipse plug-ins to support the graphical design of the service as UML class diagrams (using EclipseUML – Omondo), generate web service code Model204 using ANTLR and Java Emitter Templates (JET) and generate client applications in Java to consume the web services using Apache AXIS libraries• Developed JavaScript code that interacted with these web services using the Internet Explorer XMLHttp ActiveX object in a way that is now know as AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML). • Designed and created code generators to generate Model204 code based on a WSDL to interact with .NET systems; and generate Model204 services based on meta data to expose Centrelink business functions as web services and producing WSDLs for the services• Assist mainframe programmers with the use of Model204 Janus server, web service creation, XML parsing, HTML and JavaScript• Produce documentation and user guides on the use of web services within Centrelink• Design and produce SMPP server for the Model204 mainframe environment using low level sockets• Major contributor to the construction of the first web services for the Model204 platform.
