Kaplan, Inc. (Kaplan), a wholly owned subsidiary of Graham Holdings Company, formerly The Washington Post Company, an educational company that provides technology, services and content for the College & Graduate Admissions, Higher Education, K-12, pre-K, International, and Corporate marketplaces. Hired by The Washington Post to build and lead the first Interactive Education Agency called Kaplan Interactive. A 5-member team to build and grow a new online Kaplan Division with a focus on new online, web-based technologies, software and platforms (build and acquire) to develop online distant learning programs for the Parent Company Kaplan Educational’s Test Prep, Higher Education, K-12 services, Professional Training and more. This was accomplished in combination of extending the Kaplan Brand through in-house software development, a web platform for all disciplines and their respective content, global partners with digital innovation and imagination, strategic partners that were synergistic with Education - for example a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster which generated $90 million in books sales - year 1 - through Barnes & Noble. A quarterly publication with Newsweek, a Washington Post subsidiary that focussed on Test Prep, How To Get into College, Paying for College and more. By year 2 Kaplan Interactive grossed over $200 million in business. Year 3 our division, Kaplan Interactive was rolled back into our Parent Company Kaplan Educational. Today, Kaplan’s software and services are used by over 20,000 institutions in more than 70 countries becoming a multi-billion dollar Educational Company.
