My career to date covers an array of roles within the built environment sector. I have recently spent time within a Planning role in Wānaka, New Zealand, working within the dynamic rural environment after having spent my early career in Auckland, Tāmaki Makaurau. Here, I started as a Transport Planner with Harrison Grierson and transitioned to an Urban Planner role within the company. Both positions involved feasibility and resource consenting for private and public sector clients throughout New Zealand as well as reviewing and processing resource consent applications on behalf of local Councils. From my time as a consultant, and practical on-site experience from construction surveying between study, I have developed a versatile understanding of the wider urban development industry.I am passionate about the urban and environmental challenges faced by our growing cities and using my planning skills to contribute to adapting cities toward greater resilience. My aspiration is to be involved in improving the form and function of our cities, to better the lives of those who live and work within them. In particular, I am enthusiastic about prioritizing sustainable travel modes and improving the infrastructural provision, accessibility and safety of these travel modes.

PlannerPatersons Aug 2022 - Sep 2023Wanaka, Otago, New ZealandMy core role involved managing clients throughout Central Otago, New Zealand, in gaining resource consent for subdivision and development projects. The Central Otago area is characterized by rural alpine landscapes which are identified as sensitive to the visual effects of subdivision and development, and is recognized by district and national policy. This presented consenting challenges related to landscape sensitivity, rural productivity, stringent environmental management of earthworks and land stability, and up-zoning of traditionally low-density rural townships. -
Intermediate PlannerHarrison Grierson Mar 2021 - Aug 2022My core role involved preparing resource consent applications for private and public sector clients at district and regional level. I also acted on behalf of local governments to process resource consent applications in the Auckland and Queenstown areas. I regularly provided planning advice to inform indicative developments for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and other private clients. -
Transport PlannerHarrison Grierson Jul 2017 - Mar 2021Auckland, New ZealandMy role involved preparing Transportation Impact Assessments or Integrated Transport Assessments for private clients from all over New Zealand. I also provided peer reviews of the transportation effects of resource consent applications and private plan changes on behalf of Auckland Council. This included liaising with the client and local authority and working with different teams internal to Harrison Grierson.Other types of work I was regularly involved in included:- Road Safety Audits- Speed Limit Reviews- Travel Demand Management Plans- Traffic Modelling- Master Planning- Business Case- Road and Intersection Design- Feasibility Assessments- Bus Route Investigation- Permanent Traffic and Parking Changes -
Assistant SurveyorThe Survey Group Limited Sep 2015 - Feb 2017Auckland, New ZealandThis position enabled me to gain practical skills in the field of construction and land surveying. My role demanded the understanding of all aspects of the survey process. This allowed me to competently assist the surveyor and often contribute to tasks such as grid, pile and boundary set outs, as-built’s and topography surveys. I learnt the importance of communication between co-workers, to achieve accurate results, and give us confidence in the work we had done. -
Wastewise AdvisorAuckland Council Sep 2014 - Oct 2015AucklandI was employed by Auckland Council during two different campaigns that involved canvassing suburbs of Auckland identified as needing educating. In 2014 as part of the 'recycle right' campaign, my role was to help residents better understand the correct way and benefits of recycling. Similarly, in 2015 I aided Whangaparaoa residents in transitioning to a new inorganic collection system. This role gave me familiarity in engaging with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
