Due to corporate restructuring, the fund management business of PSG Capital Quantitative was moved into a new company called Olive Capital, a 85% subsidiary of PSG Absolute Investments. PSG Absolute Investments was a hedge fund management company with four different hedge funds ranging from fixed income to volatility arbitrage. Became the lead manager of what is now known as the Brunia Managed Futures Fund in November 2007.

PSG Capital Quantitative started in 2002 with the team from the Quantitative Development and Trading desk of PSG Investment Bank. The business began managing the PSGAI Quant Fund, which later became the Brunia Managed Futures fund, on the 1st of June 2003. Over the next few years the business increasingly evolved from a proprietary trading house to a hedge fund manager and by the end of 2006 no more proprietary positions were taken.Responsible for developing, optimising, evaluating and implementing trend-following trading strategies on the South African spot bond and equity derivatives markets. These strategies use modified technical indicators and probability theory and were at first applied for proprietary trading but later became the approach used for managing the PSGAI Quant Fund.The PSGAI Quant fund, now the Brunia Managed Futures fund, is a trend-following CTA hedge fund. Both short and long positions are held in the South African spot bond and equity derivatives markets. The fund uses leverage to enhance returns and employs worst case Value-at-Risk to measure and manage risk. Appointed as director in October 2003.

Worked on the Quantitative Development and Trading desk – a business using technology, technical analysis, statistics, mathematics and artificial intelligence to develop trading strategies. Proprietary trading positions, longs and shorts, were taken in chosen markets based on strategies with a statistically positive expectation. Risk management was handled on a worst case Value-at-Risk basis.Responsible for developing, optimising, evaluating and implementing trading systems on the South African spot bond and equity derivatives markets.
