Supported the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as lead of an Agile DevOps team focused on delivering user-friendly web applications used daily by tens of thousands of Government users across the world:- Web Application Development: Designed and performed full-stack development of Web applications using Java with Spring APIs and microservices communicating via REST APIs. Built front-ends using React, Angular and Bootstrap frameworks, working directly with clients and stakeholders to create user stories. Participated in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and extreme programming sessions with junior developers, deploying microservices to AWS cloud environments.- 12-Factor App Development: Followed industry best practices to create distributed applications in a microservice architecture. Made use of Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to perform automated testing, code quality scanning and security vulnerability analysis and to deploy in production and non- production environments.- Usability Testing: Conducted usability testing of prototypes with users at USCIS service centers and field offices. Rapidly iterated designs based on user feedback to create intuitive, attractive interfaces and create user stories. Received official commendations from USCIS for delivering high business value with expedited schedules.- Design Systems: Led an effort to implement and support the organization-wide adoption of a design system component library into an existing software application. Worked closely with graphic design and accessibility testing teams to refine requirements. Additional experience working with other Government design systems (e.g. USWDS, VA.gov) to quickly stand up applications with consistent look & feels and 508c-compliant accessibility.- Systems Integration: Integrated microservices within the organization to incorporate Machine Learning functionality and new data sources to support an expanding userbase.
