I always dreamed of becoming a philosophy professor, but when senior year arrived, tough introspection about the costs of graduate work and the dismal job prospects in the humanities raised doubts about that path. When I stumbled into an opportunity with an early stage tech startup, I decided to take the plunge into the unknown. I'm so glad I did. I discovered that technology was a space where I could use my strengths in thinking, problem-solving, and technical communication to build powerful tools and create surprising outcomes with passionate people.I've since done implementation and change management with XBE, a startup which enables horizontal construction contractors to plan, execute, and analyze their work, and I've also lead the new customer onboarding team at Brivity, the technology of arm of the prop tech unicorn Place, Inc. Currently, I'm loving life at Submittable where I get to help non profits and local governments build and launch grant programs that benefit their communities.Outside of my day job, I write and podcast about religion, philosophy, and psychoanalysis. You can follow my newsletter at https://samsara.clinic and my podcast at https://samsara.substack.com. I also recently self-published a book looking at Shusaku Endo's novel Silence to see how the historical and philosophical conflicts of Tokugawa-era Japan are relevant to our contemporary moment (learn more here: https://ko-fi.com/s/a0f1886273)I volunteer as a board member for the Sacramento Psychoanalytic Society, and I'm also actively involved in my local Presbyterian church. I'm a husband to Bethany and a father to a son and a daughter.
