About Phillip U.

Former Sacramento lobbyist turned county prosecutor turned public defender. I went from the halls of politics to the halls of justice. For 12 years, I used my passion for public policy to serve non-profits, victims of sexual assault, reform California's political system, and hold political corruption accountable. I went to law school at night, passed the California Bar on the first try, and while raising two young boys with my dear wife. My desire to serve the public did not end in Sacramento. I got a call to come back home to Kern County to serve as a prosecutor in the Kern County District Attorney's Office. After nearly 3 years at KCDA, I was blessed to be a part of the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office. My pursuit for justice continues as a Deputy Public Defender for the Santa Barbara County Public Defender.
