CioEducation Finance Partners Feb 2008 - Dec 2008San Francisco, Ca, UsShaking up a conservative industry through improved analytics, origination, and collection processes, EFP rapidly grew to become the fourth largest originator of private student loans. As a member of the leadership team, I created the technology strategy to support aggressive business goals and rapid growth.Business intelligence was a key enabler of the corporate growth strategy, so we built and enhanced a sophisticated data warehouse which enabled the creation of credit models to support improved origination and more proactive collections and servicing. The result was a more profitable and higher quality loan portfolio. With a goal to sell the company or to go public, I was part of a team that supported extensive due diligence efforts. When the frozen capital markets threatened our business, these efforts changed focus but increased in intensity. Despite the fact that EFP ultimately filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy, this was an opportunity to demonstrate technology as a powerful enabler for business strategy. -

Group ManagerMacy'S May 1993 - Aug 1995New York, Ny, UsMacy's Credit Customer Service (MCCS) is the credit division of Macy’s Inc., supporting all company branded and third-party credit transactions as well as the customer service function. Prior to the corporate rename, MCCS was known as the Financial and Credit Services (FACS) Group. Hired to transform the retail credit division from a “green screen” mainframe environment to Microsoft Windows-based client/server environment, my first challenge was to meet with department heads to understand their requirements and then to lead the technology team to design, build, and support “Intelligent Credit Management” (ICM). The new system was dramatically quicker to train and more efficient to use than the existing mainframe system. A version of ICM drove improved productivity at MCCS until 2018.
