Phil was a Manager within PwC’s M&A advisory practice and was based in the firm’s Chicago office. He managed over $6 billion in deal value for Fortune 500 companies in various sectors, including telecommunications equipment and data management. Some of his experiences include managing buy-side and sell-side operational and financial due diligences; structuring and supporting divestiture / integration plans and management teams; scoping and defining transition services agreements; integrating and implementing new go-to-market strategies; and program managing corporate rebrandings.

While supporting the now former Motorola Solutions enterprise business, I established a go-to-market phase-gate process with clear timelines, accountabilities, and deliverables with the flexibility to integrate with existing product development processes. I also evaluated the profitability of three new market strategies for refurbished product sales: in-sourcing, outsourcing and relicensing based on the potential bottom line benefits, partner profits, and risks; explored the potential ROI of improved customer databases through structured interviews with senior leadership, internal surveys, and literature research; and drove efforts in defining and constructing business cases for bundled service plans by market verticals.

A majority of my time at Whirlpool was spent in the Model Line Engineer function. In this role I served as the Engineering Project Lead for the Kenmore 2014 Model line of eight dishwasher models and managed a team of eight engineers. I also interpreted and communicated marketing performance expectations and claims as technical requirements to greater project team; led multiple project teams, using internal project management software, through phase-gates and was personally held responsible for scoping all capital/expenses and meeting product targets including performance, cost, quality and schedule; liaised for Sears’ Kenmore dishwasher and compactor products providing weekly technical quality and project schedule updates to Sears’ product management and Senior Leadership; and approved / held accountable for all final Whirlpool engineering change requests that impacted Kenmore Cleaning Products.Prior to the Model Line role, I supported the organization as a Dryer Technology Lead. In this role I managed a development project of 18 new export clothes dryer models through to production; coordinated across regions (SEA/EMEA/LAR) first part approvals, supplier dates, in-house product approval testing, external codes testing (UL/IEC/BSI), builds and final approvals; and wrote engineering specifications, component test plans and component lab requests for all developmental efforts in export dryer project.

Upon graduating Purdue with my undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineeing, I had six months until I started my Engineering LDP program at Whirlpool. I took this time to pursue a passion I had around mobile technology. I first established a twitter account with a focus on Android news/products and grew the account to over 3,000 Twitter followers in less than 2 months. I then designed and developed a utility android application with a 4.5/5 rating and over 2,000 downloads. Finally, I designed/managed the outsourced development of a monetized social application for android devices. The application held a top 100 selling social application position in the Android Market for 3 months. Current sales are over 500 copies at a 4.1/5 rating.
