In November 2013, having passed two milestones, successfully clocking up 50 years of life and 20 years with the Westfield Group in life safety and risk management, Phil decided the time was right to take some time out to enjoy with his young family, indulge in a few obsessions (cycling and sailing) and contemplate the next phase of his working life.Phil was fortunate during his time at Westfield to develop a broad set of management and leadership skills as well as an extensive network of friends and business colleagues both within the organisation and beyond.During his sabbatical Phil kept an open mind about new career possibilities, building his skill set, and potentially taking his career in a new direction.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, Phil was responsible for the safety of all persons associated with or impacted by the Groups operations. This included the design, implementation and maintenance of the Groups safety framework including the audit regime, training programs, legislative reviews and liaison with relevant regulators and other government bodies

Reporting to the executive teams on Sydney CBD projects, Phil was responsible for ensuring the health & safety of persons engaged on or affected by the building projects.
