I am a life-long learner, a generally curious person and a card-carrying nerd. Growing up, I always knew I would work in technology due to that continuous drive to learn new things. As a kid, I often broke things by taking them apart to see what made them tick. I did a stint running a BBS as a middle/high schooler in the pre-internet days and when I was old enough to work, I found a job at a "mom and pop" computer hardware shop building and fixing broken machines. Eventually, I found a job as a network engineer during summers in high school and college, getting the opportunity to run cabling, building active directory domains and setting up exchange servers. Over time though, I moved away from hardware/infrastructure and into software, but not before garnering several Microsoft certifications. For almost 20 years now, I've been professionally developing software as a lead engineer, architect, consultant, and pseudo-IT director. Given my mixed background of infrastructure, software and leadership, it gives me an uncommon perspective of the "big picture". I like to think that helps me make better decisions when it comes to solution delivery, but sometimes a good failure can teach you just as much as a successful project. As a professional, I'm looking for a challenging environment where I can work with good people who share my passions, continue to gain opportunities to learn new and interesting technologies, and do meaningful and fulfilling work.When I'm not working or spending time with family, I like to learn new technologies. Most recently I've been playing with building a "smart home" by designing arduino-based hardware circuits, sometimes less successfully than I would like (ask me sometime about the bathroom fan that was ringing my doorbell). I'm a movie nerd and enjoy listening to books on Audible whenever I have the opportunity.
