Liaised with Ombudsman Adjudicators via e-mail and telephone on mortgage complaints that required further information or rectifying. I was one of four members of staff within the department that carried out this process; Routinely assisted both Ombudsman Adjudicators and the Barclays Quality Assurance team to process complex scenarios; Drafted extensive investigations and collected information which was complied into Business Responses for the Ombudsman. These responses ranged between 2 and 15 A4 pages dependant upon the complexity of the case. Within my response i would either uphold the dispute or defend the Bank's position. Attended regular collaborations with the senior operations to determine if we could operate outside of policy;Supported the phone team with routine mortgage questions; As of March 2016, I was the first within the department to be awarded 'Star Advocate' status. This award was presented to me by the senior director of Ombudsman Operations for Barclays, who travelled from London to present the awarded. I was nominated by fellow colleagues, team leaders and senior operations for providing “outstanding” work. Acted as a trainer, training either individuals on new processes or sitting with the telephone team and helping with complex enquiries. Whilst sitting with the telephone team I created a user guide on how to answer mortgage questions and navigate mortgage systems. This was a new agreed process with the Ombudsman and my guide subsequently help to reduce the number of ratification requests by 50%. Overlooked for promotions at Barclays and when approached by a recruiter for a law job, I had to take the opportunity.
