My primary research foci are:- Enhance our understanding of processes driving landscape and environmental change.- Improve our ability to efficiently and accurately map complex environments and habitats with emerging technologies.- Predict coastal and environmental change by integrating geography, geology, geophysics, machine learning, and other disciplines (i.e., interdisciplinary collaborations).- Engage communities via citizen-science opportunities to better understand community-driven research needs and help address real-world challenges. While much of my research focused heavily on the coastal environment and landscape, predicting future environmental and landscape change more broadly necessitates that we improve our understanding (quantitative and qualitative) of the processes interacting at the surface and beneath the surface at a range of spatial and temporal scales. This leads me to actively pursue highly-multidisciplinary research that utilizes tools, techniques, and information from a diverse set of specialties, such as geography, geology. geomorphology, remote sensing and GIS, geophysics, and machine learning (ML) and AI.
