Spent a summer conducting research at the UCL Department of Economics into the effects of online education on academic outcomes, and how these vary by student characteristics, as well as attending several leadership workshops.In this role I conducted several literature reviews, developing my ability to identify relevant material, read purposefully to answer specific questions, and to critically and creatively bring together elements from different papers into an enlightening narrative.I also developed my data analysis skills, learning how to use Python and Excel more effectively in order to format datasets so that they could be analysed and read more easily.Through the leadership workshops I improved my groupwork skills by learning about the diversity of leadership styles and how different styles can be more effective depending on the task at hand and the personalities of group members, as well as reflecting on problems that can arise in teams such as a fear of conflict.
