In my role as director of the UJE I am responsible for coordinating the activities of the journal along with the Editor-in-Chief. This involves the successful delivery of the 3rd issue of the journal, succession planning, and liasing with the UCL Economics Department and UCL Economists' Society to deliver workshops, talks, and outreach events.

I worked in a team of two to coordinate and plan the strategy of the research section of The Economic Tribune.In this role I am helping oversee the creation of a student-run peer reviewed journal, the UCL Journal of Economics.

I published articles in the termly issues of the Tribune detailing research projects I undertook, as well as collaborating with other correspondents on newsletters.My articles so far include:- A literature review detailing how game theory can be used to model collusion in oligopolies (p.48 Issue 22)- A statistical analysis of the factors affecting consumer switching in UK telecoms markets (p.69 Issue 23)I have developed several key skills in this role:- Research: Formulated research questions, identified relevant literature, and critically synthesised literature- Data analysis: Sourced appropriate data, performed logistic regression analysis in STATA, and interpreted findings- Writing Skills: Wrote in a clear and concise style to express my research findings

Spent a summer conducting research at the UCL Department of Economics into the effects of online education on academic outcomes, and how these vary by student characteristics, as well as attending several leadership workshops.In this role I conducted several literature reviews, developing my ability to identify relevant material, read purposefully to answer specific questions, and to critically and creatively bring together elements from different papers into an enlightening narrative.I also developed my data analysis skills, learning how to use Python and Excel more effectively in order to format datasets so that they could be analysed and read more easily.Through the leadership workshops I improved my groupwork skills by learning about the diversity of leadership styles and how different styles can be more effective depending on the task at hand and the personalities of group members, as well as reflecting on problems that can arise in teams such as a fear of conflict.

I tutor International Baccalaureate students in Maths using online platforms. The duties I perform in this role have developed several key skills: - Organisational and time management skills: I communicate with my students to set class times and lesson content and plan my week to account for the time I need to spend teaching and preparing for the lesson. - Project Management: Tutoring is a kind of project in that I must establish both short and long term goals with my students and tailor my lessons to meet these goals. - Communication: I must explain concepts in an intuitive way and be able to explain something from different angles if necessary. I have learned to take advantage of the benefits of an online communication and mitigate its drawbacks. - Responsibility: Working directly with clients means I am immediately accountable if something goes wrong, so I have learned to deal with this responsibility by being organised and well-prepared
