• Pearce was the first distributor of video games in Canada. In the 1980s, his success helped make Atari, Intellivision, and Coleco household names in Canada during the video gaming industry’s golden era. Pearce was the first to import Nintendo games into Canada.• Pearce was the first to establish a specialty video game retail chain. He co-founded Microplay Video Games in 1987 and used his own specialized custom software to develop it into a franchise model in 1992. By 1995, when Pearce sold his interest in the company, Microplay had expanded to over 120 locations worldwide, with locations in Canada, the United States, and abroad.• Pearce was the first to use the Internet to connect multiple partners in the video game industry’s supply chain with inventory management, transaction processing, and decision-support systems. His innovative technology solution addressed long-standing industry problems.• In 2004, Pearce was the first to invent an easy-to-use automated web page information extraction and interchange technology (Method for Automatically Filling in Web Forms, more commonly known as Auto-fill and Auto-complete.) This type of system is now used in all modern web pages, browsers, and on mobile devices everywhere.
