I have finished my final year of doctoral studies at the University of Kent, where my project aimed to use genome editing approaches such as traditional cloning methods and CRISPR Cas9 to develop a CHO host cell chassis tuned for improved difficult to express protein production.During my project I have expanded my practical lab-based skills, working with mammalian cell line expression systems from the DNA cloning steps to transfections and analysing impact via protein, qPCR and RTqPCR techniques.My project was an EPSRC funded CDT Studentship linked to University College London and has involved me completing several MBI Courses to further advance my knowledge of industrial bioprocesses involved in mammalian cell expression systems.Now I have finished my project I move onto a role as a Senior Research Associate at T-Therapeutics in the Expression Pipeline team where I will continue to develop on my experience in the biotechnology industry.
