I had two memorable moments in my childhood that led to me becoming a sales professional and teacher. First, with my mother’s encouragement I would sell flower seeds door to door. It was a scary proposition, but I did take on the venture with a little insistence from mom. As an entrepreneur herself, I later understood why she persisted in me pursuing this little hobby, adventure. My second experience was a bit more challenging. My father was an aspiring politician running for city council and assemblyman. He was a community activist, which meant that my sister and I were always involved in his political campaigns. We would go door to door, hand out flyers and ask people to vote for him. You have no idea how intimidating that was, but we persevered. My parents were the catalyst behind me being in sales for so many years. I subconsciously ventured into sales not really knowing why. Surprise! For the last eight years I have been a middle school teacher, again following the model in which my mother and father were influencers. Community. Community. I knew the best way to pay it forward was to become a teacher. These lessons taught me how to manage adversity and expectations. It is always important to evaluate one’s actions. It is important to get feedback from your peers, as well as your students. Through this process, I have learned humility, and empathy. I have learned to check for understanding and clarity. My career in Banking and Finance permitted me to develop excellent relationship building skills, which lead to business transactions that provided my employers with significant income and revenue streams. The scope of this process allowed me to recognize that the most important aspect of any organization is its people. It was an honor to experience so many diverse views and opinions, together we created solutions that fostered productivity and income growth.I have optimized experiences to create relationships bound by trust and commitment.
