I bring 16 years of progressive experience in the educational field. My professional history includes positions such as Teacher, Academic Counselor, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal and High School Principal. During this time, I gained valuable insight now how to manage schools. Every school needs to have systems that help create the conditions for staff and students to work effectively together. Everyone appreciates simple, clear goals and effective processes. School systems provide and effectively communicate the ground rules for everyone. They ensure a measure of consistency in approach and action across the school. Furthermore, every student should have the opportunity to learn and to achieve a quality of life they desire based on their educational efforts and achievements. I helped design and implement school programs that promote academic rigor, improve school culture, equity, and safe and healthy schools. Those programs include Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Restorative Justice Practices (RJP), Collaboration of Student Services Team (COST), Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS), Response to Intervention (RtI), Naviance College and Career Readiness, Project Based Learning (PBL), and Personalized Learning Platform (PLP). I'm an active member of California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA), Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).Prior to a career in education, I also was a law enforcement officer and studied to be a Roman Catholic Priest.
