👋 Hi, I'm Paul! I'm a techie from New Zealand, now based in Lisbon, Portugal.I'm the founder of Jsonify, an AI "data agent" platform. We've built an AI agent that you can send out to the Internet to find information, fulfilling complex multi-step workflows to turn webpages and documents into sensible structured data, automatically!---I've spent a lot of the last decade as a software consultant at my solo consultancy (paulh.consulting). I listened to peoples problems, helped them refine a solution, and then built things to solve it. I worked with organizations ranging from early-stage startups like Snacka, Apellix or ScreenTimeLabs to medium-sized businesses like Carescribe, EyeCandy Labs, or Theneo, all the way up to giants like Google, NASA, Sony, and the Bavarian Government.As a software developer I built everything from autonomous drones, to high-performance big-data systems, to complex AI applications to distributed 3D rendering, working alone or as part of a team. ---From 2008 to 2012, I was a researcher at the University of Waikato in New Zealand, as part of the WAND Network Research group. I worked primarily in embedded and distributed systems. In January 2012 I began traveling around the world. While living in the Seychelles, I built SeyTrax, a GPS vehicle tracking service. After that, I moved to the mainland. In early 2013, I co-founded SafariDesk, a travel platform for the East Africa region. We were based in Nairobi, Kenya, and pre-seed funding for SafariDesk came from the Savannah Fund startup accelerator.Later I relocated to Asia. In Shanghai I worked with a leading Chinese law firm to build Oorkle, a service to help coordinate worldwide IP Law events.While based in Asia I helped found ButlerTech Group. As the CTO I coordinated development on projects like ButlerPad, CondoButler and CityButler. ButlerPad was an app-based concierge system for hotels, tightly integrated with our CityButler city guide. We were based in Singapore, with offices in Thailand, the Philippines, London, and Sydney, and received US$2.2m of investment in 2015.In 2016 I relocated to London to run the UK office of ButlerTech. In 2020 I moved again to Lisbon, just before COVID did. Since moving to Europe, I worked remotely as a consultant, helping startups and big companies around the world bring their ideas to life.In 2023, I cofounded Quacks.ai, which used generative AI agents to help solve quality assurance testing. It was based in Lisbon and received pre-seed funding through the Antler startup accelerator. I'm now building Jsonify! 👾
